The Karlsruhe Pass

Karlsruhe transport system (KVV)
Karlsruhe Pass holders can purchase a personal Karlsruhe transport system monthly ticket for the Karlsruhe city area for €23;- (price correct on 01.01.2010). This is half the price of a green monthly ticket (Umwelt-Monatskarte) . The other half is subsidised by the city of Karlsruhe.
The personal monthly ticket can only be purchased in the Karlsruhe transport system customer centres in Karlsruhe (Marktplatz, Europaplatz, main station (Hauptbahnhof) and Tullastraße). The monthly ticket can be bought on any date and is then valid until the same day of the following month (including – if this happens to be a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday – the next working day).
The following conditions apply: From 7pm to 5am the following day, the ticket holder can take one more adult and up to two paying children of 14 years of age or younger. In the case of families, all the children belonging to the family (up to and including 14 years of age) can also travel on the holder’s monthly ticket at and during the times stated above.
The monthly ticket holder’s name will be entered on the ticket, but no photo is needed. The Karlsruhe Pass itself does not need to be carried on the journey – however, if requested by the ticket inspector, the monthly ticket holder must be able to show some form of identification such as an identity card, passport, driving licence or Karlsruhe Pass.
Anyone who has hitherto used a Karlsruhe transport system annual ticket and wants to change to the personal monthly ticket can do so by simply handing-in their annual ticket at one of the customer centres named above. The Karlsruhe transport system has arranged special cancellation conditions for such a change.
Entry to Swimming Pools
Single entry tickets can be purchased at a reduced price (50% off) at the following swimming pools when the Karlsruhe Pass is used:
- Europabad (all-year round)
- Fächerbad (all-year round)
- Sonnenbad (May to September, when the cashier is available)
- Turmbergbad Durlach
- Freibad Rüppurr
- Rheinstrandbad Rappenwört
Unfortunately, the Karlsruhe Pass cannot be used when purchasing entry tickets from the ticket machines.
Zoo/City Garden (Stadtgarten)
The Karlsruhe Pass is also an annual ticket for the Karlsruhe Zoo/City Garden.
Validity Period of the Karlsruhe Pass
The Karlsruhe Pass is valid for a year from the date of issue up to the end of the month entered in the stamped box. The pass can only be prolonged in this month and, and to receive an extension a current official letter/assessment of social security payments (in accordance with SGBII, XII), housing or child benefit payments must be presented again.
